About The Vitrine

We find
the merch
worth
wearing.

Independent brands make extraordinary things. Most people never find them. We think that's worth fixing.

The Vitrine is a curated discovery platform for merch from the world's best independent restaurants, coffee shops, bars, and lifestyle brands. No chains. No noise. Just the good stuff โ€” city by city, drop by drop.

01

The
idea.

It started with a simple observation: some of the most interesting brands in the world aren't fashion labels or streetwear giants. They're the coffee shop on the corner in Basel with a limited-run hoodie. The Lisbon bar with a bag that sold out in 48 hours. The London restaurant that made a tee so good it became a neighbourhood uniform.

These brands exist at the intersection of culture, food, and lifestyle โ€” and they make merch with a story. The problem is discoverability. Their products are buried on personal websites, sold through Instagram DMs, or limited to those who happen to visit in person.

"No one owned this category. Indie food and lifestyle brand merch was an unclaimed space. We decided to claim it."

The Vitrine exists to bridge that gap โ€” a single, beautifully curated destination where the most interesting independent brands can be found, explored, and shopped. Directly. No middleman. No markup. Just the brand and the person who wants to own something real.

02

What
we
believe.

We have a simple editorial rule: if it's on The Vitrine, it's worth finding. Every brand is hand-picked. Every product passes through our curation lens. We say no far more than we say yes โ€” and we think that's exactly the point.

I
Curation over volume

We will never be a marketplace. Every brand earns its place. Quality over quantity, always.

II
Authenticity first

We feature real places with real stories. Independent restaurants, coffee shops, bars. Not corporate. Not chain.

III
Discovery as a value

The best products are ones you didn't know existed until you found them. We design for that moment.

IV
Editorial quality

We think and write like a magazine, not a directory. The copy, the curation, the design โ€” all of it matters.

21
Products curated

Every item hand-picked. Growing weekly as we onboard new brands.

13
Independent brands

From Lisbon to London to Zurich. All independent. All worth knowing.

6
Cities

London, Zurich, Lisbon, Basel, Ibiza, and beyond. Expanding city by city.

0
Middlemen

Every buy link goes directly to the brand. We don't take a cut. We don't add markup.

The mind behind it

Max
by TheVitrine.

Founder & Curator โ€” Zurich ร— Basel

Max is the alter ego, the editor, and the obsessive behind The Vitrine. She is the reason every brand on this site was found โ€” and the reason most were rejected.

She travels to eat, stays for the culture, and always comes home with a tote bag she didn't plan to buy. Based between Zurich and Basel, she has been discovering independent brands long before it was a platform โ€” and building The Vitrine is her way of sharing what she finds with people who care about the same things.

The Vitrine was born from a genuine frustration: too many extraordinary independent brands, too hard to find their merch. Max fixes that. One city, one brand, one product at a time.

"I buy from the brands I feature. If I wouldn't wear it, it doesn't go on the site."

Max is reachable at hello@thevitrine.co โ€” for brand submissions, collaborations, or just to say hi.

03

Where
we
look.

The Vitrine follows the cities with the best independent food and lifestyle scenes. We start where the culture is โ€” and the merch follows.

Expansion is ongoing. If your city has independent brands making things worth wearing, it's only a matter of time.

The list grows. Know a brand in these cities worth featuring? Let us know.

We believe the most interesting brands are the ones that built a community before they built a webshop. The ones where the merch is the afterthought โ€” which is exactly why it's so good.

04

For
brands.

The Vitrine is free to be listed on. We do not charge brands for placement โ€” we curate based on quality alone. Featured slots and editorial partnerships are available for brands looking for more visibility.

Submit your brand

We receive a lot of submissions. Here's what we're looking for:

  • Independent. Not a chain, not a franchise. A real brand with a real story and real people behind it.
  • Food, coffee, bar, or lifestyle. Restaurants, bakeries, roasters, bars, clubs, hotels โ€” if it's a place with culture, we're interested.
  • Quality merch. The product has to be genuinely good. Well-designed, worth owning, not an afterthought.
  • Shoppable. Products need to be available to buy online and ship internationally.
  • European base. We're building city by city across Europe first. Global expansion is coming.

Send us a short message at hello@thevitrine.co with your brand name, city, a link to your products, and why you think you belong on The Vitrine. Max reads every submission personally.

Frequently Asked.

What makes a brand "indie"?
We define indie as independently owned, not a chain or franchise, with clear values and a real story behind it. Think local restaurants, independent coffee roasters, design studios, lifestyle brands โ€” places with personality and people you can actually meet.
Do I have to pay to be featured?
No. Base listing is completely free. We curate based on quality alone. If you want featured placements, editorial stories, or branded collaborations, we offer sponsorship packages starting at ยฃ25/month. See thevitrine.co/sponsors for details.
How do you choose which brands to feature?
Max personally reviews every submission. We look for: independent ownership, quality design, genuine story, shoppable products, and European base. We reject about 80% of submissions because we're ruthless about quality.
Can international brands apply?
Right now we're focused on Europe โ€” specifically London, Zurich, Basel, Lisbon, Berlin, and Ibiza. We're expanding to more European cities soon. Non-European brands can reach out but won't be featured until we expand to your region.
How can I track traffic from The Vitrine?
If you sponsor us, we provide UTM tracking on all links to your shop so you can see exactly how many clicks and attributed sales came from The Vitrine. For non-sponsors, we include your shop link but tracking is your responsibility.
What's your commission model?
We don't take commission on sales. We're transparent: you keep 100% of revenue. We profit through sponsorships, not by taking a cut from brands. Featured placement is either free (for curation) or a flat monthly fee (for sponsorship).
Can I submit my brand?
Yes! Email hello@thevitrine.co with: brand name, city, link to your products, and why you belong on The Vitrine. Max reads every submission personally. It usually takes 1-2 weeks to hear back.
Do you work with agencies or group submissions?
We prefer direct submissions from brands. Each submission is evaluated individually. If you represent multiple brands, submit each separately with their specific story and context.
How often is the site updated?
We add new brands and products based on our editorial calendar. The newsletter goes out weekly with curated picks and "Meet the Maker" stories. Instagram posts 3x/week with drops, trends, and community features.
Can I advertise on The Vitrine?
We offer sponsorship packages (ยฃ25-200/month) that include featured product placements, newsletter mentions, Instagram features, and optional editorial partnerships. Email hello@thevitrine.co to discuss custom partnerships.
Do you have affiliate links?
Yes. All brand links use UTM tracking (for sponsors) or direct links (for free listings). We don't use affiliate programs โ€” we link directly to brands' shops so they capture 100% of sales.
How can I stay updated?
Subscribe to our newsletter (thevitrine.co#newsletter) for weekly merch drops and maker stories. Follow Instagram (@thevitrine.co) for daily content, stories, and community features. Both are how we share the best indie finds.
